Lake Constance licence (Bodenseeschifferpatent)
Lake Constance has its own licence. Anyone skippering a boat with an engine above 4.4 kW or a sailing boat with more than 12 m² of sail there needs the Bodenseeschifferpatent. We make it available to marine and water conservation organisations heavily discounted or free.

Lake Constance is an international lake with its own navigation rules. Other recreational boat licences do not automatically apply there. Category A covers motorboats, category D covers sailing boats.
What does the course cover?
The Lake Constance navigation rules, traffic rules and signs, weather and storm warnings on the lake, manoeuvres and safety on board. It ends with a theory and a practical exam.
Why it matters for water conservation
Lake Constance supplies drinking water to millions of people and is an important habitat. With the licence teams can run monitoring, sampling and clean-ups on the lake independently.
